X-Men: First Class

X-Men First Class is a prequel to the X-Men film series, focussing on the relationship between Charles Xavier (later Professor X), and Erik Lensherr (Magneto) and how their respective groups (X-men and Brotherhood of Mutants) came up. Xavier is an Oxford university graduate, working on his thesis on mutation, while Lensherr is on pursuit of Dr. Schmidt who killed his mother. The movie tells the story of how these two young men meet, become best friends and discover their powers with other mutants, fights together to stop a third world war, and later becomes arch enemies.

The Tree Of Life

This is the story of Jack, the eldest son of a Texas household of the 1950s. Sean Penn takes on the role of Jack, who attempts to recover a complicated relationship with his father (played by Brad Pitt). The film chronicles the beginnings and meaning of life through the view of this family, through Jack's life in the modern world as an architect, whilst featuring surrealist themes and imagery through space and the beginning of life on Earth.

The story revolves around Annie, a single woman in her mid 30s, who becomes the Maid of Honor to her friend Lillian who is engaged to a wealthy banker. She has to join an oddball (read colorful) group of bridesmaids to get Lillian through her wedding. Her own life in a mess (a failed business, lost boyfriend, and broke to top it all), Annie has this one chance to get something done perfect, and she has to show Lillian and the rest of the bridesmaids how far someone can go for someone they love.

Thor

Directed by Kenneth Branagh, Thor is one of the most looked forward to movies in 2011, based on the Marvel Comics comic book character of the same name. The movie tells the story of Thor, a god who was sent to exile to Earth from his homeland Asgard. When he was sent to Earth, he was devoid of his godly powers and also his most trusted hammer, Mjolnir. To weild his hammer again and get his powers back, Thor must now prove himself worthy of it. To make things worse, Thor must also stop his brother Loki, who intends to rule Asgard.

Mel Gibson plays a troubled husband and a depressed toy executive who, after being kicked out by his wife, adopts a beaver hand-puppet as his one and only means of communicating with the world. It gives him a new personality, and his wife Meredith (played by Jodie Foster) and son Porter (Anton Yelchin), though skeptical at first, try to accept Walter as a favor to their younger son Riley who loves the beaver a lot.

Rachel, is a single, talented attorney working as a lawyer in a New York law firm. When she was in high school, she had a crush on another student named Dex. Too shy to reveal about her crush in high school, the secret comes out at the wrong time (on her 30th birthday after too many drinks). Dex is, but now, Rachel's best friend Darcy's fiance. But still, they end up in bed on that night. Rachel thinks that this is only a one-night stand; but for Dex, he falls in love with Rachel.

Jumping the Broom

Starring Angela Bassett & Loretta Devine, the plot of JUMPING THE BROOM is about two African-American families who reside on opposite edges of the social circle and then have to join each other for a wedding in the town of Chilmark on the island of Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts, where a member of each of the families will get married to each other.


The name of the flick is derived from the African American tradition of bride and groom jumping over a ceremonial broom subsequent to being married.
